    The ashes of the Right Reverend Paul de Labilliere, Dean of Westminster, and his wife are buried in the nave of Westminster Abbey.

    During his time at the Abbey he did much to enhance the services and during the war showed many hundreds of visiting troops around the Abbey.

    In Poets' Corner is a monument to poet Michael Drayton (or Draiton). The monument was erected by the Countess of Dorset.

    On 18th July 2018 a memorial to Nelson Mandela was unveiled in the nave of Westminster Abbey.

    He had visited the Abbey in 1996 and wrote in the Distinguished Visitors Book "Visiting the Abbey was an unforgettable experience".

  • The Reverend Dr James Hawkey

    The Reverend Dr James Hawkey is Canon Theologian at the Abbey, with particular responsibility for theological study and teaching.

    Canon Hawkey is also a Bye-Fellow of Clare College, Cambridge, and a Visiting Professor in Theology at King’s College, London.
