The Feast of St Michael and All Angels at Westminster Abbey

Westminster Abbey's choir has released a new CD on the Hyperion label.

The latest recording continues the series of performances of music for the church's great feast days. The Feast of St Michael and All Angels has been released in time for Michaelmas on September 29th.

The Feast of St Michael has inspired composers throughout the generations and as well as established favourites, this CD includes most of the liturgical output of Sir Michael Tippett, one of the foremost British composers of modern times.

The CD also includes works by Herbert Howells, Ralph Vaughan Williams, Benjamin Britten, Jean Langlais and Sir Charles Villiers Stanford.
