Richard Briers to narrate Crucifixus pro Nobis

The distinguished actor Richard Briers will be the narrator at Crucifixus Pro Nobis, the Abbey’s meditation in words and music on the Passion and Death of Jesus Christ on Tuesday 11th March at 7.00pm.

Though he has dominated television comedy programmes since the mid-1960s, Richard Briers is also a noted classical actor with acclaimed performances in the title roles of Shakespeare’s King Lear and Chekhov’s Uncle Vanya with Kenneth Branagh’s Renaissance Theatre Company.

Crucifixus Pro Nobis features readings from the Gospel according to Mark and music by Byrd, Poulenc, Grayston Ives, Kenneth Leighton and Roxanna Panufnik

James O'Donnell, Westminster Abbey’s Organist and Master of Choristers will conduct the Abbey choir with Robert Quinney at the organ.

Admission is free and all welcome. No tickets are required. The doors open at 6.15pm.

I’ve worked here for over thirty years and have seen many of the major services - it’s strange to realise that you are in a small way part of history.
