New Minor Canon appointed

The Reverend Michael Macey has been appointed Minor Canon of Westminster, to succeed the Reverend Deiniol Morgan, who leaves the Abbey on 14th October having accepted a full-time commission in the Royal Army Chaplains’ Department.

Michael is 27 and is currently Curate of the Benefice of Dartmouth & Dittisham in the Diocese of Exeter. He and his wife Emma will be moving to the Abbey on 20th October and Michael will be formally installed at Evensong on 8th November.

The two Minor Canons are together responsible, under the Dean, for all worship and liturgy in the Abbey, St Margaret’s Church, and The Chapel of St Mary Undercroft.

Michael said:

Liturgy and music have always been a passion of mine, so to be able to be involved in both in such a wonderful place is a dream come true. I am very much looking forward to working and worshipping in The Abbey and getting to know the Abbey community in the months ahead.

It’s very hard not to be enthusiastic working at the Abbey. If this place doesn’t make you smile I don’t know what will.
