Field of Remembrance

Her Majesty The Queen accompanied by His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh visited the Field of Remembrance at Westminster Abbey on 10 November.

Each laid a Cross of Remembrance after prayers by the Very Reverend Dr Wesley Carr, Dean of Westminster, and the Reverend Robert Wright, Sub-Dean, Canon of Westminster and Rector of St Margaret's Church.

Trumpeters of the Household Calvary sounded The Last Post followed by a two minutes' silence, after which the Royal Party toured the plots meeting veterans from past and more recent conflicts.

The Shrine of St Edward the Confessor is one of the most powerful features of the Abbey. To stand in the presence of a man who is both a saint and a monarch is awe-inspiring.
