Elizabeth I and Mary, Queen of Scots
Wednesday 22nd January 2020
10:00am - 2:30pm
Join us for our annual History Masterclass, a great opportunity for A-Level Historians to explore historic Westminster Abbey and its precincts, and enjoy a lecture from renowned Historian Dr John Guy (Clare College, Cambridge).
Both anointed queens, Elizabeth and Mary never met in life yet they lie buried at Westminster Abbey just a few metres from one another in the stunning Lady Chapel, built by Henry Tudor. Dr Guy will discuss Elizabeth and Mary, and students will have the opportunity to ask questions afterwards.
Students will also be taken on a guided tour of Westminster Abbey focusing on the Tudor aspects of this ancient church.
The lecture will be held in St Margaret's Church just next to Westminster Abbey, and will be suitable for A-Level History Students. A guided tour of Westminster Abbey is included in the price.
It’s a privilege to live and work here – the Abbey really is the heart of the country and its history.
