Anthony Harvey was a Canon of Westminster from 1982 until his retirement in 1999. He served as Canon Theologian and was appointed Sub-Dean in 1987.

The service was conducted by the Dean of Westminster, the Very Reverend Dr John Hall, who gave the Welcome and Bidding, and pronounced the Blessing.

The Address was given by the Right Reverend and Right Honourable The Lord Williams of Oystermouth, former Archbishop of Canterbury.

A tribute was read by Victoria Harvey and Helen Simpson, daughters.

Carole Goldberg, on behalf of Rabbi Dr David Goldberg OBE, read Isaiah 58: 6-12; and Non Vaughan-O'Hagan read 2 Corinthians 4: 5-18. Father Alban McCoy OFM Conv read from the final chapter from Drawn Three Ways by Anthony Harvey.

Prayers were led by the Reverend Mark Birch, Minor Canon and Sacrist, and said by: Professor Andrew Chandler, Director, the George Bell Institute; the Right Reverend Jonathan Goodall, Priest Vicar; and the Reverend Jane Sinclair, Canon in Residence.

The service was sung by an octet from the Westminster Abbey Special Service Choir, directed by James O’Donnell, Organist and Master of the Choristers. The organ was played by Peter Holder, Sub-Organist.
