Secondary self-led visits

If you’d like to visit the Abbey with your class for a self-led tour, you must book.

We offer a specially developed route map and themed trails to help you lead a successful self-led visit.

Please also read our information pack before you visit.

How to book

If you want to book a self-led tour for your class, please email us with the details of your visit:

  • The name of your school.
  • The size of your group.
  • The date of your visit.
  • Your year group.

Group sizes

You’ll need at least one teacher or helper to every ten pupils. Large groups of students will need to be split, with the entry times staggered to avoid overcrowding.

Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5 students

£6 per pupil

Adults accompanying Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5 students

One adult per ten pupils – free

Any other adults – £14 each

The biggest challenge we face is maintaining such a large physical collection of material within a historic building – believe it or not, there’s just not enough space for it all.
