Royal Commonwealth Society Chair reads for Abbey podcast

The Executive Chair of the Royal Commonwealth Society, Dr Linda Yueh, makes a guest appearance on today’s edition of Abbeycast, the Abbey’s lockdown podcast which is providing online worship for Christians worldwide.

Dr Yueh reads Matthew 10: 24–39 in this week’s episode, A Narnia Tale, which is a 17-minute service of prayers, a reading, an address, music and a blessing recorded for the Second Sunday after Trinity.

It is led by The Reverend Canon Dr James Hawkey, Canon Theologian, with an address by The Very Reverend Dr David Hoyle, Dean of Westminster, and was recorded in Poets’ Corner by the memorial to CS Lewis – writer, scholar and poet.

Sir John Taverner’s The peace that surpasseth understanding, commissioned by the Dean and Chapter of Westminster for Armistice Day 2009, is sung by the Abbey Choir conducted by James O’Donnell, Organist and Master of the Choristers. It was supplied by the Choir’s record label, Hyperion Records.

The Abbey has strong links with the Commonwealth. Every March the Abbey holds an annual service commemorating Commonwealth Day, attended by Her Majesty The Queen and members of the Royal Family. The Abbey regularly prays for the countries of Commonwealth in its daily services and invites the High Commissioners of Commonwealth countries to read at Evensong on their national day.
