David and George Gregorie

Brothers David and George Gregorie are buried in St Margaret's church Westminster and both have memorial tablets on the north wall. They were sons of Charles Gregorie. David was a barrister at Lincoln's Inn. His son Charles Frederick, born 1834, attended Westminster School and rose to the rank of Lt. General in the army and served in the Indian Mutiny - he married Henrietta Lawrence and died in 1918. Another son was George Wayne Gregorie who was educated at Oxford and was also a lawyer.

The inscription for George reads:

To the memory of George Gregorie, Esquire, late of Christ Church Oxford (youngest son of Charles Gregorie, Esquire, of East Cholderton in the county of Hants.[Hampshire]) who died the 13th day of October 1832 aged 39 years and whose body lies in the chancel vault of this church

The inscription for David reads:

To the memory of David William Gregorie Esq. a magistrate of the Police Court at Queen Square in the City of Westminster who died the 16th October 1842 aged 52 years. He married Eleanor St Barbe, eldest daughter of the Revd. Charles White of Shalden in the county of Hants. His remains are deposited in this church in the same vault with those of a beloved brother.
