Metropolitan Police Commissioner reads for Trinity Sunday

The Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police Service, Dame Cressida Dick, the UK’s most senior police officer and first woman to lead the Met is the guest reader for today’s edition of Abbeycast, the Abbey’s lockdown podcast which is providing online worship for Christians worldwide.

Dame Cressida will read Matthew 28: 16–20 in this week’s episode which she recorded on an iPhone at the Metropolitan Police Service HQ, New Scotland Yard in Westminster, London, in May.

‘Relating without Rivalry’, a podcast for Trinity Sunday is a 19-minute service of prayers, reading, address, music and blessing recorded this week in the 13th century Chapter House in the East Cloister – originally a meeting place where the monks gathered with the abbot to pray and discuss the day’s business.

It is led by The Reverend Canon Dr James Hawkey, Canon Theologian with an address by The Reverend Mark Birch, Minor Canon and Precentor. John Sheppard’s Libera nos, salva nos  sung by the Abbey Choir and conducted by James O’Donnell, Organist and Master of the Choristers, is supplied by the Choir’s record label, Hyperion Records.

The Reverend Mark Birch said:

The Holy Trinity can sometimes sound a bit like a mathematical problem: ‘Three in One, and One in Three’, but this podcast explores whether it is, in fact, a key to understanding not just God, but ourselves, and the kind of relationships for which we are made.
