Robin Stormonth Darling

Robin Stormonth Darling was a generous benefactor to the restoration of Henry VII's chapel at Westminster Abbey. In the vestibule of the chapel are red and green enamelled plaques recording various names including that of Mr Darling. The main plaque states:

The Lady Chapel was restored 1992-1995 largely thanks to the generosity of those whose names are recorded here and in windows of the chapel.

He was born in 1926, a son of Patrick, of Balvarran in Scotland, and educated at Winchester College before joining the Army and serving in Egypt and Palestine. Later he became a stockbroker and director of many companies including the British Motor Corporation. He died on 17th October 2009. His brother Peter is also a philanthropist.
