Family Day: Carnival of the Animals

Family Day: Carnival of the Animals

Date Time Location Price

Kids Go Free as we celebrate the Carnival of the Animals at this fun-filled Family Day in the Abbey.

Join us for creative crafts, magnificent music, beautiful animal sculptures and sensational stories for the whole family.

Create your own wearable carnival critter for a musical procession through the Abbey accompanied by the incredible sounds of the Abbey’s organ.

Where and when: All day | In the North Transept (as you come into the Abbey)

Can you find all the wild and wonderful life-sized animal sculptures around the Abbey? Artist Imogen Paton turns trash into treasure by transforming household non-recyclable rubbish into beautiful creations to remind us to protect these animals before it’s too late!

Where and when: All day | Throughout the Abbey

Pull up a pew and join our Sub-Organist Peter Holder as he performs the enchanting Carnival of the Animals by Camille Saint-Saëns on the Abbey’s organ. As this special piece of music fills the Abbey, what animals will you encounter in its movements and melodies?

Where and when: 10.30am and 1.30pm | Seats are located in the Nave, but you can hear the organ playing throughout the Abbey

Inspired by the Abbey’s magnificent menagerie, we'll be looking towards countries in the Commonwealth to discover tales — and tails — of creatures great and small.

Where and when: 11.30am and 2.30pm | Meet in Poets’ Corner
