Memorials of the future

We asked primary pupils to design a memorial for someone who has made a difference, who deserves to be remembered at Westminster Abbey. They might be famous or someone less well known. Take a look at all of the fantastic ideas that were submitted by KS2 pupils.

Aesop was a Greek fabulist and storyteller many of the tales are animal characters who speak, solve problems, and have human characteristics. The stories teach moralistic messages that still inspire thousands of people today.

Archimedes was a mathematician, physicist, engineer, inventor and astronomer, who was born in 287BC; he invented and discovered many things including: The Archimedes Screw, he discovered that Pi = 0.31495 rounded to the nearest 100,000th, he also proved that the surface and the area of a sphere have relation. And he discovered that the surface area of a sphere is 4πr2. Archimedes has made a big difference to make all the maths equations correct.

Laika the dog was sent to space. She was a brave soul and managed to make it without any problems. That is until...the space craft stopped working and got too close to the orbit and overheated, and Laika also overheated herself. Sadly she died and she should be memorialised because if she managed to make it back, she would have helped scientists in their future experiments and saved lots of other animals from going to space and dying because of their rocket model.

Before children have received their dogs, they were scared to leave their house, now with the help of these special dogs, children can explore more without fear.
