Ukraine Ambassador attends wreath laying at Innocent Victims’ Memorial

The Ukrainian Ambassador to the United Kingdom, His Excellency Vadym Prystaiko, was present for the wreath laying in honour of the victims of the current war in Ukraine.

A Defence Attaché and Naval Attaché placed the wreath on the Innocent Victims’ Memorial after Evensong on Thursday 7th April 2022.

Prayers were led during the service by The Reverend Robert Latham, Minor Canon and Sacrist.




A Prayer for Ukraine

On Sunday 3rd April, prayers were said and candles were lit in the Abbey for Ukraine, and the church’s chandeliers were illuminated in the country’s colours.

The previous evening a graphic of the Ukrainian flag was projected onto the West Towers with a message of uniting in prayer for the country.

President Zelenskyy

In October 2020, the President of Ukraine, His Excellency Volodymyr Zelenskyy, laid a wreath at the Abbey in honour of all victims of oppression and violence.
