Sunday, 28th June 2020
Major General Christopher Ghika, General Officer Commanding London District and Major General Commanding the Household Division reads for the Abbey’s latest podcast which is released today.
Major General Christopher Ghika reads Matthew 10: 40-42 in this week’s episode, The Rewards of Hospitality, a 20-minute service of prayers, reading, address, music and blessing recorded for the Third Sunday after Trinity.
It is led by The Very Reverend Dr David Hoyle, Dean of Westminster with an address by The Reverend Mark Birch, Minor Canon and Precentor and was recorded in the Cellarium where the Abbey’s monks kept their stores of food and drink. Today the Cellarium is a café and restaurant for worshippers, pilgrims and visitors maintaining the Abbey’s centuries old tradition of Benedictine welcome.
Sir William Harris’ Strengthen ye thy weak hands is sung by the Abbey Choir and conducted by James O’Donnell, Organist and Master of the Choristers. It was supplied by the Choir’s record label, Hyperion Records.
