Abbey responds to Covid-19 guidance

Westminster Abbey has reviewed its daily and Sunday service timetable to reflect the Government’s latest Covid-19 guidance and to ensure that daily worship can be sustained safely.
The Eucharist will be celebrated in the Abbey every day (11.15am on Sundays, 12.30pm Monday-Saturday) and will be open to all. Otherwise the Abbey (including St Margaret’s Church) will remain closed to the public until further notice.
The daily offices of Morning and Evening Prayer will be said privately by the Abbey’s resident community, and will include, as always, prayers for the Sovereign, the Royal Family, the nation and the Commonwealth.
There will be no choral services, but Sundays and Feast Days may be sung by a professional cantor, whenever possible.
The Dean of Westminster, the Very Reverend Dr David Hoyle, said:
'These are temporary measures introduced in response to the overriding need to minimise the spread of infection – for our staff and for those visiting the Abbey – in the exceptional circumstances facing the nation, and London in particular, at this time.
'The latest measures will be kept under constant review with the aim of restoring a full pattern of opening, prayer and public worship as soon as conditions allow.'
