  Coronations have taken place in Westminster Abbey since 1066, when William the Conqueror was crowned on Christmas Day. The church has been closely linked with the royal family all through its history, and that continues today with the monarch visiting the Abbey throughout the year.   Soldier and Politician

  Oliver Cromwell, Lord Protector, was buried in Westminster Abbey following his death in 1658. However, he was exhumed after the Restoration.

• George Granville Bradley

  Dean and Writer

  George Granville Bradley, Dean of Westminster, is buried in the south aisle of the nave of Westminster Abbey. A brass covers his grave.

• Joseph Armitage Robinson

  Writer, Dean and Priest/Minister

  Joseph Armitage Robinson K.C.V.O. was Dean of Westminster from 1902-1911 but he has no memorial. There is however a bronze bust and portrait of him.

  In St Margaret's church Westminster is a monument to Lady Dorothy Stafford, lady of the bedchamber to Elizabeth I. She and her son Sir Edward Stafford are buried in the church.
