Day of Prayer 2023:

Day of Prayer 2023: "Come to Me..."

Date Time Location Price

Join Coptic Orthodox Archbishop Angaelos in St Margaret’s Church for our annual Day of Prayer.

In recent years the Day of Prayer has been held as part of the Abbey’s marking of the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity, which will have concluded earlier in the week.

For our 34th annual Day of Prayer, we are pleased to host His Eminence Archbishop Angaelos, the Coptic Orthodox Archbishop of London, as he offers three reflections on Jesus’ invitation, “Come to Me”.

The reflections

  • I will give you life
  • I will give you hope
  • I will give you rest

About the speaker

His Eminence Archbishop Angaelos is the first Coptic Orthodox Archbishop of London, having served in the UK since 1995 as a monk-priest and General Bishop, and is the official representative in the UK of the His Holiness Pope Tawadros II, Pope of Alexandria and Patriarch of the See of Saint Mark. After consecration as a monk in the Monastery of St Bishoy in Wadi-El-Natroun (Egypt) he served as a private secretary to the late (Coptic Orthodox) Pope Shenouda III until coming to the UK.

Archbishop Angaelos has been conferred the Lambeth Cross for Ecumenism by the Archbishop of Canterbury and the Coventry Cross of Nails for Reconciliation as well as having his ‘Services to International Religious Freedom’ recognised with the award of an OBE.
