Day of Prayer: Finding God in Isolation
Join His Eminence Nikitas, Archbishop of Thyateira and Great Britain, at this special online event on the Abbey's Annual Day of Prayer.
Archbishop Nikitas was born and raised in Florida before taking his Masters degree at the Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology. He subsequently studied in both Greece, at the University of Thessaloniki, and Russia, at the St Petersburg Theological Academy, as well as lecturing at Loyola University, Chicago. After ordination he served parishes in the USA before being elected as the Metropolitan of Hong Kong and South East Asia in 1996. In 2007 he became the Bishop of the Dardanelles and Director of the Patriarch Athenagoras Orthodox Institute in Berkeley, California where he served until taking up his current role in July 2019. Archbishop Nikitas is noted for his involvement in education, community service, interfaith relations and social justice issues – spearheading the Ecumenical Patriarchate's Committee on Human Trafficking and Modern Slavery.
On its 32nd annual Day of Prayer, the Abbey is pleased to host Archbishop Nikitas as he offers three reflections on Finding God in Isolation.
The event is held as part of the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity.
