Sung Eucharist on Creation Sunday and Accession Day

Date Time Location Price
8th September - 8th October 2024Online Free

Watch this Sung Eucharist service, which marks Creation Sunday and the anniversary of His Majesty The King’s accession to the throne,

During the service we will give thanks for God's good earth and rededicate ourselves to the care of this planet we call home. This year, Creation Sunday falls on Accession Day, when we give thanks for The King and pray for him and the whole Royal Family. His Majesty's long-standing advocacy for our natural world makes this a particularly meaningful dual observance.

The day also marks the end of the Abbey’s Creation events season, which has celebrated the beauty and diversity of the natural world.

The Dean of Westminster, the Very Revd Dr David Hoyle, will preach.

Music

The service will be sung by the Choir of Westminster Abbey and music will include:

  • William Byrd - Mass for three voices
  • Philip Moore - Behold, O God our defender
  • William Walton - Walton arr Murrill Crown Imperial
