A Service of Thanksgiving for the life and work of The Rt Hon Lord Crickhowell PC will take place in St Margaret's Church, Westminster Abbey on Tuesday 23rd October 2018 at Noon.
Lord (Nicholas) Crickhowell, the former MP for Pembrokeshire, was appointed as the Secretary of State for Wales, working for 8 years in Margaret Thatcher’s first two administrations. A determined champion of causes, Nick was instrumental in persuading the Conservative government to allocate significant funding to the Cardiff Bay Barrage scheme which now incorporates the Welsh Millennium Centre for the Performing Arts. Securing funding for the Welsh National Opera, Lord Crickhowell latterly gave significant assistance to the National Rivers Authority as Chairman, assisting also in directorship roles with Associated British Ports, HTV and Anglesey Mining. Nick was passionate about the arts and the environment and devoted to his family and his dogs.
