A Service to Commemorate the Life of Florence Nightingale

8th May 2013 at 6:30 pm

Florence Nightingale's life and work will be commemorated at a special service in Westminster Abbey at 6.30pm on 8 May.

This annual service will also celebrate nursing and midwifery and all staff, both qualified and unqualified, working in these services.

A lamp - symbolic of Florence Nightingale - will be taken from the Florence Nightingale Chapel during the service and escorted by a procession of nurses to the Dean who will place it on the High Altar.  This year the Lamp will be carried by David Wright and it will be escorted by student nurses from Leicester De Montfort University.
