A Service of Thanksgiving for the Life and Work of Rear Admiral Kenneth Snow CB and the Interment of Ashes in the Cloisters

A service to celebrate the life and work of Rear Admiral Kenneth Snow CB was held in Westminster Abbey on Saturday 17th March 2012 at 4.30 pm.

Admiral Snow, who died on 5th December 2011 aged 77, was Receiver General of Westminster Abbey from 1987 to 1998.

Admiral Snow was born on 14th April 1934. He joined the Abbey from the Royal Navy, where he had been Captain of the aircraft carrier HMS Hermes and latterly Deputy Assistant Chief of Staff to Nato’s Supreme Allied Commander in Europe.

The Dean of Westminster, the Very Reverend Dr John Hall, said: ‘Members of the Abbey community who worked with Ken Snow during his time as RG have very warm memories of him. He was a loyal and highly valued member of the collegiate body.’

The Reverend Colin Semper, Canon Emeritus of Westminster, gave the Address at the Service of Thanksgiving. Christopher Snow read a tribute on behalf of the family and readings were given by Admiral Snow’s grandchildren. Commander Michael Peters read the Naval Prayer. The service was sung by the Abbey Special Service Choir.
