A Service to Mark the 40th Anniversary of the coming into effect of the Chronically Sick and Disabled Persons Act (1970) was held at Westminster Abbey on Wednesday 30 March 2011 at 11.00 am.

The Act was brought in through a Private Member's Bill by Lord Morris of Manchester (then Alf Morris MP for Wythenshawe) on 5 December 1969 and was endorsed by the House of Commons and became an Act of Parliament in 1970. The Act had a major impact on the lives of disabled people and provided a springboard for much of the legislation in force today.
