A Service of Thanksgiving for the Life of Mary Skaggs CBE was held at Westminster Abbey on Thursday 8 July at 6pm
She gave through the Skaggs Foundation to the Duke of Edinburgh’s Appeal in the 1980s.
She also gave two windows left and right of the RAF Chapel with the theme of peace and reconciliation. Though she was an American, Mary Skaggs supported and loved British heritage all her life.
Her Foundation was formed from her family business - the Save-On and Safeway grocery store chains in the USA
She was one of the oldest living people in the United States of America when she died last October aged 109
