Service to Celebrate the 150th Anniversary of The Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution

24th February 2010 at 12:00 pm

A service of thanksgiving for creation and for the fruitfulness of the earth, and for those that work on the land in various ways, and in celebration of the founders of The Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution (RABI), its supporters, volunteers and donors who have served the institution well over their 150 years.

Prayers were said during the service for those that need the institution’s continued support, to enable them to find the wisdom required to face the future as they strive to achieve targets of food production and food sustainability.

RABI is a grant-making charity that supports members of the farming community (farmers, farm managers, farm workers and their families) facing need, hardship or distress. RABI is farming’s national charity, operating throughout England and Wales. It was founded in 1860 by John Joseph Mechi and has an unbroken history of providing long-term care and emergency help.
