Florence Nightingale's life and work will be commemorated at a special service in Westminster Abbey on Wednesday 6 May at 6.30pm.
The service will also celebrate nursing and midwifery and all staff, both qualified and unqualified, working in these services.
This year is the 50th anniversary of the annual commemoration being held at the Abbey.
A lamp - symbolic of Florence Nightingale - will be taken from the Florence Nightingale Chapel during the service and escorted by a procession of nurses to the Dean who will place it on the High Altar. This year the Lamp will be escorted by student nurses from Bangor University, Cardiff University, Swansea University the University of South Wales.
Tickets, which are free, are required to attend this service.
