Guidance for a safe and enjoyable visit to the Abbey and access for all
The Dean and Chapter welcome all worshippers and visitors to Westminster Abbey and we do our utmost to ensure you have a memorable time with us. We hope that you enjoy sharing the sights, sounds and special atmosphere of this extraordinary church.
To assist your visit
We do all that we can to ensure all our guests have a safe and enjoyable visit. However, it is important to point out that, whilst the Abbey is a living church, it is also an historic building with many obstacles.
Areas of the Abbey might be dimly lit. It is also important to note that, in certain places, floors and steps are uneven and you should therefore ensure that sensible shoes and clothing are worn. There are also a number of low doors and steps that may not be immediately obvious.
People with restricted mobility, hearing and sight can still enjoy services and are always welcome to come to the Abbey to worship. Abbey Marshals (in red gowns) and honorary stewards (at Sunday services) are always pleased to help you with any assistance you may require.
If you feel that any of the information in this section has not dealt with your special requirements we will be pleased to answer any queries or concerns that you may have.
