Lecturer: The Rt Revd the Lord Harries of Pentregarth, former Bishop of Oxford and Honorary Professor of Theology at King's College London.
Speaking on the topic: The End of the Permissive Society? Towards a Christian understanding of the common good.
The Rt Revd Richard Harries FKC was instrumental in setting up the Eric Symes Abbott Memorial Fund and Memorial Lecture series in 1986 while he was Dean of King's College London. He then went on to be Bishop of Oxford from 1987-2006, and on his retirement was made a Life Peer (taking the title of the Lord Harries of Pentregarth). He is currently Gresham Professor of Divinity, and an Honorary Professor of Theology at King’s College London. He is the author of a range of books on the interface of Christian faith and the wider culture, most recently Faith in Politics? Rediscovering the Christian roots of our political values (DLT, 2010).
