Progress and Providence in History: Faith and the course of the world’s history
15 November 2011 at 6:15 pm
The second of two autumn lectures in the Progress and Providence in History series by Canon Vernon White exploring how Christian faith interprets the meaning of events as they unfold.
What does Christian faith and theology have to say about the pattern of both human and natural history? Are we to expect inevitable progress – or should we be prepared for radical change, even disaster?
Vernon White is Canon Theologian at Westminster Abbey and Visiting Professor at King’s College London. Previously he was Principal of STETS, an Ecumenical Theological Training Institution based in Salisbury, and before that Chancellor of Lincoln Cathedral and Special Lecturer at Nottingham University. He is the author of a number of books on the nature of divine action and human society.
