Guidance Booklet
The Guidance Booklet and the tours are designed to meet the National Curriculum in Key Stages 2, 3 and 4 and so cannot be booked by schools outside the United Kingdom.
Tours undertaken without pre-booking do not qualify for a discount and the normal concessionary rates apply. We advise that you pre-book all tours, to qualify for a discount:
Self-Guided Tour
Self-Guided Tour: educational tours conducted by teachers, following the Abbey’s normal “visitor route”, beginning in the Nave, and using our Welcome Leaflet and Schools fact sheet, plus information from our website and Guidance Booklet. There must always be at least one teacher or helper to every 10 pupils.
Pre-booked Discounted Charges:
Aged 10 and below: £2 per child
Aged 11 to 15: £3 per child
Aged 16-18: £5 per child.
The same charge in the appropriate grouping applies to teachers in the correct ratio only, with additional adults paying for a full price adult ticket.
However, in the busy summer month of July and August, we do require that all school groups arrange their own Blue Badge Guide – indeed, you cannot visit during this peak summer period without a Blue Badge Guide.
Guided Tour with a Blue Badge Guide

Charges:
Blue Badge Guides are booked and charged separately. The all-year-round rate charged by the Abbey for such tours is £6.00 and these tours are not subject to a concessionary rate.
