Forms of Silence: An exhibition of sculpture by Edward Armitage Robinson

13th February 2013 at 9:30 am

A free exhibition of triptychs, reliefs, and other sculptural forms in wood and bronze.

13 February - 25 March 2013

In his foreword to the book Forms of Silence written to accompany this exhibition Tom Devonshire Jones, founder of the Art and Christianity Enquiry, writes:

‘It is more than twenty years since Edward Robinson began putting into words his reflections on our tradition of religious art with his book The Language of Mystery.  Of this, Bishop John Taylor wrote “This is the book which many of us have been waiting for”.

Now in this exhibition Robinson is offering us with these Forms of Silence a survey of his sculpture over the past thirty years.

If we allow these silent shapes and structures to speak to us, we may find them suggesting fresh ways of thinking or feeling about old and familiar truths.'
