The Archbishop of Canterbury, the Most Reverend and Right Honourable Justin Welby, will make his first formal visit to Westminster Abbey on Ascension Day, Thursday 9th May 2013. He will attend the Ascension Day Sung Eucharist at 5pm where he will be welcomed by the Dean of Westminster, the Very Reverend Dr John Hall, at the start of the service. The Archbishop, who will be robed and seated in the Sacrarium, will make a brief reply. The Reverend Dr James Hawkey will preside at the Eucharist and the Dean will preach.
