At the start of Christian Unity Week on Monday 18 January, Westminster Abbey hosted an evening to discuss one of the most hotly-debated topics in the Church of England - the ordination of women as bishops.
A Westminster Conversation: Women Bishops – Where Does the Church of England go from here? heard contributions from Bishop John Gladwin, formerly Bishop of Chelmsford; Bishop Martyn Jarrett, Bishop of Beverley; the Reverend Dr Michael Ovey, Principal, Oak Hill Theological College; and the Reverend Lucy Winkett, Canon Precentor, St Paul’s Cathedral. The Reverend Dr Jane Hedges, Canon Steward, Westminster Abbey, chaired the evening.
