William Morgan
In the north aisle of the nave of Westminster Abbey is a white marble monument to William Morgan and Thomas Mansell. The monument is possibly by sculptor William Stanton. Morgan was buried on 2 February 1684. His inscription tablet reads:
"Here lyes the body of William Morgan, second son of William Morgan of Tredegar in the county of Monmouth Esq. who dyed the first day of February one thousand six hundred and eighty three in the nineteenth year of his age"
The date is given in Old Style dating on the memorial, which is now 1684. The coat of arms for Morgan is shown.
A photo of his inscription and the joint memorial can be purchased from Westminster Abbey Library.
See the website of Tredegar House.
