Lord Rupert Nevill

Lord Rupert Nevill was a Trustee of the Westminster Abbey Trust, which raised millions of pounds for the restoration of the stonework of the Abbey in the period 1973-1995. His coat of arms is shown in the lower row of the west window of Henry VII's chapel with those of other trustees and generous donors.

He was born in 1923 a son of the 4th Marquess of Abergavenny and his wife Isabel (Larnach). Educated at Eton he went into the Life Guards and later was chairman of the British Olympic Association, President of the YMCA and other charities. Treasurer to HRH Philip, Duke of Edinburgh (President of the Abbey Trust) from 1970 and later his private secretary. His wife was Lady Ann Wallop and he died on 19th July 1982, having a memorial service in St Margaret's Westminster.
