Howel Holland Edwards

In the north choir aisle of Westminster Abbey is the grave of the Revd.Howel Holland Edwards and his wife. He was a son of the Revd.Edward Edwards of Caernarvon in North Wales. He attended Westminster School and Oxford university and became librarian and chaplain to the Duke of Marlborough and rector of Waddesdon in Buckinghamshire. Later he was a prebendary of St Asaph, rector of St John's Westminster and prebendary at the Abbey 1803-46. His wife was the daughter of Robert and Charlotta Palmer but they had no children. His estates in Wales went to a nephew. The inscription on his brass plate reads:

"+ Here rest the remains of Howel Holland Edwards M.A. Canon of this Collegiate Church, born Nor.6 1762, died Sept. 29 1846. Also of Caroline his wife fourth daughter of Robert Palmer of Hurst in the county of Berks. Esquire, born Sept.1 1762, died April 22 1834"
