David Walter Morgan

In the north cloister of Westminster Abbey is a white marble tablet near the grave of the Reverend David Walter Morgan. He was a Lay Vicar in the Abbey choir from 1756-1758 and Minor Canon from 1758 to his death. The inscription reads:

Near this place are deposited the remains of the Revd. David Walter Morgan, L.L.D. Minor Canon of this Collegiate Church, Priest in Ordinary of His Majesty's chapel, and vicar of Little Leighs in the county of Essex. He died the 12th of March 1795 aged 61 years. This monument is erected to the memory of a revered and beloved parent by his only surviving son Colonel John Drigue Morgan.

He was probably a son of William Morgan and was educated at Oxford and became Doctor of Laws. On 11th December 1758 he married Mary Adams at St Martin in the Fields in London. Five of their young children were buried in the Abbey between 1762 and 1783.
