Dame Margaret Skipwith

Dame Margaret Skipwith was buried on 8th January 1742 in the Duke of Ormond's vault at the eastern end of Henry VII's chapel in Westminster Abbey. She has no monument but her name and date of death were inscribed on the vault stone in the 19th century.

She was the eldest daughter of George Brydges, 6th Lord Chandos and his first wife Lady Susan Montagu. Her first husband was William Brownlow and her second Sir Thomas Skipwith, 2nd Baronet of Metheringham in Lincolnshire. She died aged 94. Their children were George and Lucy. Sir George succeeded as 3rd Baronet but died without children and the title became extinct.
