Scott was Surveyor of the Fabric at the Abbey and did much to restore the decayed stonework in the Victorian period. He also restored the Chapter House and designed the High Altar screen. The brass over his grave in the nave, which includes colours on his coat of arms, was designed by George Edmund Street and executed by Barkentin and Krall. Scott is shown working at his desk with large figures of St George and St Thomas above him. At each corner allegorical figures represent the painter, sculptor, smith and carpenter at work.
