His funeral took place at the Abbey but he is buried at Romsey in Hampshire. The brass near the west door, which is also inlaid with stainless steel, is by Christopher Ironside and depicts profile heads of the Earl and his Countess Edwina (d.1960). A new piece of metal had to be inserted shortly after the unveiling in 1985 as one of his Orders had been omitted from the scroll at the base.
