Abbot John Estney (d.1498)
Abbot John Estney was also moved from St John the Evangelist’s chapel when Wolfe’s monument was erected. He was Abbot of Westminster from 1474 and wears mass vestments and carries his crozier. The inscription on the scroll issuing from his mouth translates as “I shall rejoice in Jesus my God”. His tomb was opened in 1706 and the body was seen lying on a quilt of yellow satin and wearing a crimson silk gown with a black girdle.
