The Lufthansa Festival of Baroque Music returns to Westminster Abbey for its annual visit, which this year offers a chance to hear two resplendent odes and a verse anthem by Henry Purcell, who was Organist of the Abbey from 1679 until his death in 1695. The highlight of the programme is the popular Ode for St Cecilia’s Day, which explores the natural origins of music and musical instruments, and includes the famously florid aria that gives this 2013 festival its title.

This concert forms part of the Lufthansa Festival of Baroque Music 2013: Tis Nature’s Voice (www.lufthansafestival.org.uk)
