27 May Sung Eucharist
27th May 2012 at 10:30 am
Alleluia, alleluia. Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful people and kindle in them the fire of your love.
Pentecost Gospel acclamation
The Feast of Pentecost is a celebration of both the Holy Spirit and the Christian Church. From the Greek pentekoste, the festival has its roots in the Jewish Feast of Weeks, completed fifty days after the celebration of Passover. Jesus’s disciples were observing this day together when the Lord gave to them his gift of the Holy Spirit, in the form of tongues of flame, so that they might go out and spread his message to all peoples. With Jesus ascended into heaven the Church, enlivened by the Spirit, becomes the new body of Christ.
Join us in our celebration of prayer and praise, sung by The Choir of Westminster Abbey.
All are invited to attend. Tickets are not required.
