The Abbey welcomes for the first time the Headmasters’ and Headmistresses’ Conference (HMC) for its Annual Service, which is held in conjunction with the HMC’s Annual Conference, taking place this year between 29th September and 2nd October 2008.

The Right Reverend Tom Wright, Bishop of Durham will be giving the sermon and readings will include Vicky Tuck, President of the Girls’ Schools Association and Baroness Detta O’Cathain. The Choir of Westminster Abbey, Dean Close School Chamber Choir and Tewkesbury Abbey Schola Cantorum of Dean Close Preparatory School will sing at the service.

The HMC represents the Heads of some 250 leading independent schools in the UK and the Republic of Ireland. HMC has a further 60 or so international members, up to 30 additional members (Heads of maintained schools in the UK), and 40 Honorary Associate members.
