1 December 2008

A Pilgrimage in central London led by The Revd Canon Martin Warner and the Revd Canon Jane Hedges from 1st – 5th December 2008

Entitled: Two Cities, Two Apostles, Two Great Churches

St Paul’s Cathedral and Westminster Abbey dedicated to St Peter, have, between them, been centres of Christian worship and mission for over 1400 years. They are less than one mile apart, one at the heart of the City of London the other sharing a world heritage site with the Palace of Westminster. These two great churches have an enormous amount in common, each welcoming over one million visitors a year from all around the world, each offering worship each day supported by choirs of world renown, each hosting services and events of national and international significance, and each governed by a Dean and Chapter. Yet they are also quite distinct in many ways with different architectural styles, different spiritual and ecclesiastical histories and ministering to different constituencies today.

This pilgrimage will offer you the opportunity to explore the history of each place in some detail, to experience their life behind the scenes, to participate in daily worship and to receive generous hospitality. Alongside this you will be able to explore some of the great artistic and architectural treasures in and around the Cathedral and the Abbey.

For more details of the pilgrimage and a booking form please contact The Revd Canon Dr Jane Hedges giving details of your name and postal address.
