Location - The Abbey
The National Pilgrimage is part of our annual celebration of St Edward the Confessor, King of England and the re-founder of Westminster Abbey.
All are welcome to join us for services throughout Edwardtide.
9.30am - Abbey opens for Pilgrims
11.30am - Festival Eucharist
Preacher: The Right Reverend Dr John Inge, Bishop of Worcester
1.30pm - Lecture
Saint Edward: Saint and Symbol – Professor Paul Binski
3.00pm - Evensong with Procession
Walking pilgrims will be welcomed with a rite of foot washing.
Throughout the day pilgrims will be able to pray at the Shrine, priests will be on duty for individual spiritual counselling and the Sacrament of Reconciliation, and prayer tours around the Abbey will be available.
There will be opportunities to renew baptismal promises and to participate in healing liturgies with the laying on of hands and Anointing.
Activities for children will be offered around the Abbey.
School groups are very welcome, but are required to book.
It is not necessary for individuals to book but it would help us in the planning of the day to know about larger groups.
Booking is necessary for school groups.
