As well as being Sub-Dean and a Canon of Westminster, the Canon Wright is Rector of St Margaret's Westminster, and Chaplain to the Speaker of the House of Commons.
He has broad pastoral experience having ministered in a variety of parishes - inner city, commuter, market town and rural.
Canon Wright is concerned that spirituality and politics should not be divorced and is excited by the development and nurture of spirituality with individuals, through leading Retreats and through his links with Religious Communities.
He has a particular interest in social exclusion issues. Currently serving as a Trustee of the Connection at St Martin-in-the-Fields, Robert Wright has previously headed innovative projects for Foyers for Young People, Social Housing, community development projects, and the formation of counselling organisations.
Canon Wright is an abstract artist. His paintings arise from an exploration of contemplative prayer. He has held two successful exhibitions at Westminster Abbey.
During the inter-regnum February – December 2006, Canon Wright led Chapter and the Abbey’s 170 staff.
