The choir’s busy schedule makes it essential for all boys to be boarders at the school. However, this is unlike most normal boarding schools. Since all boys in the school are choristers there is such a common thread to the community that boarding becomes just another part of the remarkable experience of choristership at Westminster Abbey. The boys learn to support one another and there can be a genuinely extended family atmosphere.
Being right in the heart of London the boys have access to a huge range of facilities and opportunities. Concert halls and art galleries are all on the doorstep and the flexible timetable allows us to make good use of them. We use sports pitches at Battersea Park including a huge all-weather surface, and a large sports hall and full sized swimming pool locally in Victoria. Additionally, during the summer, we make weekly use of modern facilities in the Docklands Area for sailing, kayaking and rock climbing.
The days are arranged so that all there is plenty of time for music, singing, practice, games, activities and school work. And at the end of the day, there are friends to play with.
